Our Story
Khalaj Amani Carpet LTD was founded with a deep passion for preserving the traditional weaving techniques of Afghanistan. What began as a small family workshop has grown into a respected manufacturer and exporter of high-quality handwoven carpets and kilims that embody Afghanistan’s rich cultural heritage and centuries-old artistry.
Under the leadership of Mr. Abdul Basir Amani, the third-generation steward of the family craft, the company continues to blend time-honored techniques with modern business standards. Every carpet that leaves our workshop carries the story of Afghan resilience, patience, and beauty.
Our Philosophy
We believe that a true Afghan carpet is more than a floor covering — it is a piece of living history. Our artisans use only natural dyes derived from local plants and minerals (madder root for reds, indigo for blues, walnut husks for browns, pomegranate for soft yellows) ensuring colors that are both environmentally sustainable and deeply rooted in tradition.
The wool is carefully selected from highland sheep of the Kunduz, Ghazni and northern regions — fiber known for its density, natural luster and high lanolin content. This produces carpets of exceptional durability and a soft, resilient pile that improves with age.
Our Location & Showroom
Our showroom is located in the heart of Kabul’s historic carpet district — ACMEG Building, 1st Floor / Second Floor, Room #24, Jada-e-Maiwand, Chaman Huzori.
This area has long been a hub for Afghan artistry and trade. Visitors are welcome to experience the cultural significance of our carpets first-hand, examine knot density, feel the wool quality, and discuss custom commissions with our team.
Commitment to Quality
Every piece is hand-knotted by skilled weavers, many of whom have inherited their knowledge through generations. The process is labor-intensive: a single large carpet can take many months of patient work.
We maintain strict quality control on knot density, color fastness, foundation strength and finishing. As a verified member of the Afghanistan Carpet Manufacturers & Exporters Guild (ACMEG), we uphold the highest standards of authenticity and ethical production.
